Need to change the clutch on a mk2f 5 speed 1.3 diesel punto
just wondering what parts i will need is it a concentric slave cylinder?
any tips or making the job easier will be appreciated.

Will be doing it on jacks and axle stands .

kind regards
Mac

From memory, the slave cylinder is on the out side,so not a concentric. To make the job easier, remove the stud, bottom left on the gearbox(looking from engine side)

Rest assured it's a nightmare of a job on axle stands.

Make sure to remove the drivers side (assuming it's a right hand drive) drive shaft from the gear box and you will save yourself a huge amount of hassle on the passenger side you can unbolt and drop the drive shaft out of the way.

Slave is on top of the gear box so no concentric slave which I seem to recall our 1.9 multijet did have.

Solid flywheel on the 1.3 so no issues there. Get a good quality 3 part clutch kit and when you have it in bigs it's worth checking the engine oil seals, and replace them if needed, will save a lot of headaches if you do these sooner rather than later.

Advised to have two people to wiggle the gearbox in and out. As there is very little space. Dropping the dog bone engine mount allows you to tilt the engine and get the gearbox out with less of a space problem

I found it 10x easier having 2 people lifting a 1.2 8v let alone the heavier diesels

A clutch alignment tool is also handy as the gearbox wont go back in fully if tje clutch aint perfectly in the middle

Thanks for the replys! I'll sort a good kit out tomorrow !
Thanks for confirming no Dmf or concentric slave cylinder.
Sounds straight forward enough I'll get somone to give me a lift when coming in and out with the gearboxes!
The 1.9 has a concentric slave for sure had the gearbox out of my own one three times in a short space of time that gearbox was heavy and awkward to get out for sure !

Plan is to jack it as high as I dare remove linkage and slave , drain engine and gearbox oils remove wheels , remove both shafts support engine with a jack and some wood on the sump and go from there really.
Release bearing started rumbling a week ago now struggling to get gears so the sooner I do it the better

Many thanks
Kind regards
