I have a punto mk2 1.2 8v. Im trying to replace the oil sump. In one corner there is a bar, its in the way. I have tried to remove the bottom 2 big bolts without success. Tried everything all I have achieved is rounding the bolt. Probably have to cut them off. Before I do I need to know the sizes part numbers so i can order replacements. Anyone had similar issues and can help.

Ps Whats the bar for anyway.

There is only 1 bar i can think of...
And thats a small cross brace from engine to box....
My mk2b has one but the old mk2 didnt.... i dont think anyway

As for its actual use - i cant answer
Fiat must thought it needed it

Picture to confirm we are on same page?

As for bolts - they will be standard metric bolts
Match diameter and suitable nut and youll be fine

Thanks for everyone's replies. However sadly my mate decided to reverse into my beloved punto with a works vehicle. So lots of paperwork and my insurance company has got involved. Appart from the oil sump I need a light cluster and a bit of bodywork.
