Timing Belt Change 16v Sporting Advice

MK2 Sporting

Had a new cambelt, kit and water pump done at 55,000 miles 6 years ago. The car is now on 75,000.

What's the recommend time/mileage to have it done again on this engine as I've read conflicting info?

Thanks

Re: Timing Belt Change 16v Sporting Advice

So in thoery - if it was done 6 years ago the belt is technically due to be changed
The belt has technically now expired

Been a 16v, you run the risk of it snapping, and when it does the unfortold damage it'll do to the engine (pistons and valves will hit - and will it damage the head / block / Camshaft? )

Thank god the 8v is solid lumps

Thanks for the replies. I read elsewhere it was 8 years but I won't chance it now.

Is 225 all in a fair price for this job?

As long as there fitting a decent belt kit yes it a little high but its 10x cheaper then a rebuild

Tbh ive only ever done 8v, 8v are quicker and easier todo
