Hi guys

I've just checked my punto's oil and it's barely touching the dipstick, i have booked it in for a service but it's a week away, can anyone suggest an oil i can fill up with to see me through? If you are near a halfords they will check and top up for free

Did you arrive at that oil at ecp by putting your reg in?
If yes .... It will be fine.
If you go between services without topping up much and have a handy halfords let them do it for free.

I just searched oil after reading a few posts on here, seems people use different kinds.

I'll pop into halfords and see what they offer, cheers

Ask halfords for free check and top up.

on ecp website enter your number plate , click on service parts, click on oil , you will be given a number of choices that are suitable for your car. Pick any one they will all be ok for topping up between services.

People do have different preferences for different things depending on the following
The most important things for finding an oil are what year is your car? what fuel does it use? what size engine it is?

why would they top up for free?

So they can then try and sell you something

they probably top up with used oil

They use new oil, the correct oil is no always the case, but the standard oil they tend to use would be fine for a 1.2 petrol punto

put it this way
I'd rather have Any oil put in vs actually running dangeriously low or out of oil

I wouldnt care if it was 5-30 / 5-40/ 10-30/10-40 semi or fully as a top up

Any lubrication is better than NO lubrication

idearly tho punto's Want 10-40 semi or 5-30 semi

75w/85 as an engine oil is gonna be ridiculous to find let alone use.... thatd be too thick as well
Yes if i burnt like 1litre of oil in 100miles then maybe

75w/85 is gonna be diff / box oil

Why semi? AFAIK fully is always a better oil

3 types of oil
Mineral = kinda a raw oil with little refinement

Semi = mix of mineral oil and part synthetic oil

Fully = fully synthetic oil

Using semi is fine, its what fiat put in
Its cheaper than fully too

Yes u can use fully syntetic oil tho
It wont hurt it as such
