Right guys so
A mate of a mate has just 'stage 1.5' remapped car. Deffo sounds better and has a bit more power however I know it's only an 8v just hit 85/90 In 4th ragging it lol I know I shouldn't!
However, i need to change a few bits he said to take the map to its potential!
First of all I wanna stick a 1.4 or 1.6 elx or sporting engine into it making the engine bigger obviously 16vs
I've looked at irdidum Ngk spark plugs for it about 30£ for se on eBay he said these are what I need then maybe (can't find one, gsr or cda air intake kits

What else? He charged me 140£ for the map and said any problems he will sort them!! First two times he said the fuel mixture was too high as we drove it it jiggererd to **** lol but now is ok 6in second at about 5k revs ahaha lol

Help help help

What mods now?
Was it worth it, once engine is changed?
Any ideas or suggestions

Cheers gents !!

Devante

If you're having fun and getting a blast from doing mods it's, worth it.
Trying out stuff is a fast way to learn.
Most eventually come to the conclusion that fitting a larger motor to a 1.2 8V has a lot of hassle upgrading the other bits and a complete 16V or 1.4 car is less hassle in the long run.

If you want 16V for the extra poke, getting a complete car is the easiest way to go.
The 1.4 seems to have a bad reputation for reasons unknown to me.
Insurance is another big factor when changing a car from it's built spec.
The brakes are different on the 16V for starters.

But what about the money I've spent on this for the remap? And also I can jsit stick the larger discs on it as the 16v only have larger discs I think!

Cheers

16v's usualy run 185/55/15 92V tyres to start with
vs the 165/70/14 81T's

The bit is the 81T vs 92v
The T - is like 118mph safe tyre
The V is like 172mph iirc - could be wrong
Tyres are different size to start with

16v's use different calipers, different pads and different disc's
Some have vented and some have solid
For me personally - i'd go vented to help with heat disopation due to heavy braking

Some 16v has A/C so they had different springs
Shocks and wishbones etc IIRC are same tho

ECu's are different as well - Flybywire throttle vs 8v with a cable
So you'd need to swap pedal setup....

8v's use 5speed - 16v use 6speed, however that aint a major biggie

If its A/C'd the 16v uses different altetrnator

Shall i stop there? or keep going?

But by time you declare these mods to an insurance company - it'd cheaper faster and easier to just have an 16v in basic form vs 8v modded to 16v

So you reckon remapping having been done was a waste?

Thanks

Devante

If you've had it remapped then you plan to change the engine then your remap was a total and absolute waste of money.

If you change the engine to anything other than another 1.2 8v then you'll need a different ECU so your remap will be going in the bin.

Also I've never ever heard of anyone remap and engine then advise changing the engine? I have no idea what your mate is on?

Best things you can do with the little 1.2 8v is help it breath easier with bigger throttle body better air filter and better exhaust. You can put high performance spark plugs and HT leads on but probably a waste of such a little engine.

You can tweek these engines about a bit but you'll never make a huge difference to the HP as they had such a little amount to start with. A 10% improvement is only going to get you about 7hp more, which is like adding a powerful lawnmower engine to give you a boost.

Enjoy what you have then when the time comes move on to something with a bit more power

I've has it remapped yeah for 140£ he said it's running at about 90hbp now?? Stage 1.5?? Or is He pulling my leg!!

If this engine goes I'll stick another 1.2 8v if that's mean remap is still compatible As i have someone to do that swap for me cheapish so.

What induction kit? And where do I get throttle body from if it's bigger surely the induction pipe will need be too

Thanks for help

He's pulling your.....90bhp?! With a tune?! Stock makes 59. Plenty for normal UK legal driving. I don't think an ecu tune alone can produce and extra 1/3 power increase.
