Munkel did it a long while back
However it didnt end well
It threw a rod - ruptured an oil line which caught fire on the manifold... the rest is history

If you want my honest opinion - dont bother

Alot alot alot of custom work will need to happen as nothing is just bolt on in...
Tbh ud soend way more than the car can be possibly be worth....

The 8v is a good lump if looked after - its not mega powerful but enough for the job

Ziggy

Probably even easier to drop in a 1.4 t-jet, with a lot more possibilities of huge gain.

What other things should I know like I would like to buy suspension and all them sorts of things are the newer model parts comparable

Just buy a car with a bit more poke! Trying to do the mods you are talking of is very expensive and not a lot of gain.

Yep, I've lost count on "how much faster can I make my car" has been asked on here. The answer really is the same each time, save up for a turbo/bigger engined car. Fannying about with a wee Punto aint going to cut it. Even if you went down the road of a full blown turbo set up & all the extra bits, it would cost thousands & I suspect at your age nobody would insure you. I'm obviously echoing what's been said already. By the questions you're asking you wouldn't be doing the work yourself. Don't shoot the messenger but I'd even doubt you would find a garage to do this type of work on a wee Punto, they would suggest another choice of motor.

Lastly, I have seen work done on small engined cars on the net, but they tend to be carried out by the owners themselves & are competent in that field, usually long term projects to boot, obviously having other transport for everyday driving. Don't want to sound patronising, but if all true petrol heads are honest, I think we've all been there/thoughts to a degree, imaging driving that spirited beast :D Reality how ever has a tendency to be very different......:)
