Haha oh dear !
It does seem yes, a bit like the revs drop a bit too low and then it quickly adds some revs to recover itself. Couldn't idle air valve have something to do with this?
After arriving home I opened the bonnet with the engine still running, I could see the engine visibly shake every few seconds, then I think it revs slightly to keep itself alive. At one point it sounded like it would definitely stall but it didn't.
Anyway that in itself wouldn't be too much of an issue, but I'm assuming (probably incorrectly) that it might be related to the main issue I have, which is the horrible judder when backing off the the throttle or using the throttle when it's only slightly open. Seems to happen at any speed but possibly more pronounced at low speeds. It feels like it has more to do with how close the throttle is to closed than speed.
Ziggy, your previous advice of cleaning the throttle body definitely seemed to fit. But since I've now done that, presumably well enough, I'm looking for some other hopefully easy and cheap reason for the problem.
Could anyone at least help me rule out any of the following;
1) Throttle position sensor
2) Spark Plugs / HT leads
3) Idle air control valve
4) Lambda sensor
