Had the tracking adjusted twice on my '99 Punto Mk2 ELX 16V but the car still seems to pull to the right on the move to varying degrees (tyres, shocks, brakes all checked and OK, and the car is 'straight' i.e. not been in any accidents).

I'm starting to suspect that the electronic steering's causing this by it's nominal position having moved away from the correct dead ahead position at which the tracking is set (of course the tracking is always set with the engine and steering system inactive). Whilst I may not be causing any uneven tyre wear I'm keen to get it resolved.

I've read about the need to calibrate the steering torque sensors. Is anyone out there who:
1. Has any experience of this problem
2. Knows if the calibration exercise would address this or does it simply calibrate the amount of assistance rather than 'position'
3. Knows of any basic checks I could make to prove the steering is the cause or not
4. Knows of any tricks / fixes / adjustments that can be made to the power steering unit.

My punto has always wanted to go left.

Had Castor/Camber checked and it then went in a straight line.

However, since having the Steering Column replaced as the power steering failed it's now going left again.

Unable to get it back to Dealers as they are in Exeter and I am in Gloucester.

Not heard about calibrating the steering before though.
