I went to drive my car yesterday after it had been raining non stop all night with heavy rain, and the car felt very hesitant and jumpy when accelerating.
It had been on charged all night using my CTEK Charger, so I know the battery was fully charged. Although when I started the car I noticed what seemed like an extra strong jolt when you start the car with a fully charged battery, more so then other times I've started it after being on charge.
I only drove it a short distance to the local train station, then when I came home it was still jumpy. I noticed it was a little better with City mode Turned off.
Any ideas what it could be? Some people I asked have suggested it's the Ignition Cables which might need changing. Others think it could be the coil pack. The car was totally fine last time I drove, it just seems with the heavy rain moisture perhaps got in?
I checked the engine bay and it all looks dry.
The leads are at least 5+ years old and I don't believe the Coils have ever been replaced.
Also its there a temporary fix that might help? I'm off work all week next week and could sort it out then but I'm working all of this week and by the time I get home it's too cold and dark to work on the car myself.
Some people have suggested spraying WD40 - others have suggested spraying silcon spray on the leads to help insulate them. Happy to replace leads and / or coils for new next week but this week very difficult.
