Hello everybody. I have recently bought a 2002 Punto 1.2 16V HLX and am happy to see there is a large owner community. Before I had a Ford Focus and for that the wiring to the ELM module had to be changed to read out certain modules. Is this required for my Punto as well or will it just work as is?

I got one for MES, multiecuscan. It read the free module no problem but would not read the steering module on the registered version. Some ELM327 have this issue but they seem to be very different inside. After some research I removed a resistor bridging pins 14 and 6 and it worked OK.

Hi,
I need to be careful here because this is probably a '99 model year (2000 is the registration) and some earlier models need different interfaces. There are two main choices for Fiat EOBD software, Multiecuscan (MES) and AlfaOBD. I use and recommend MES www.multiecuscan.net. For the main functions you don't need to re-wire the ELM interface. The "modification" that is mentioned in connection with MES and ELM interfaces relates to removing a 120 ohm resistor that the cheap interfaces from the far east connect across pins 6 and 14. To access some modules (ABS and airbag) you will need adaptor leads. These are very cheap. The MES website has a compatibility list.

Not quite sure what you mean with '99 / 2000 as it's a 2002?

Thanks for the info, I have multiecuscan and it works using my elm module. I would like to check the ABS module so I'll have a look.
