Technical Punto 1,2 8v engine won't start aften breakdown om highway

Hello Guys, I just want to ask something.. Sorry for my weak english, but I´m from Slovakia.

My Fiat Punto MK1 1.2 8V had engine swap to 1.1
I replaced the 1.2 engine to 1.1 cause my brother killed the 1.2 engine..
So I replaced the engine, and ECU too..
The main problem is, that the 1.1 ECU have immo within but I dont have any code box inside my car, cause there was an 1.2 engine before...
So what I need to do to start the engine? maybe decode the ECU or change the keybox? PLEASE HELP ME

Best regards
Vlado

Did you have a particular reason for changing the ECU?

Fingers crossed, although it did not work for you last time I said that about an oil problem

If it was me I would start it without the cover on and watch the oil spray around a bit before I could believe it was now getting oil.

Haha, yeah - This time it seems to be okay. It is getting oil (Have seen it spray around the camshaft)

could you see where it had covered / blocked the channels:confused:

HAYNES...
you are better with the pics on here in the MANY Fire engine HG GUIDES,
cinq , panda and punto 1 and 2

I believe that the oil channel was blocked between the block and the head..
I see that now, but Haynes was the easy way in the heat of the action...

atleast you found the problem

Yeah, one of them :bang:
It starts and runs good now, but it feels like it sometimes lack power and it is ticking/tapping a lot from the head/block (Not sure)

The ticking/tapping can be heard here (Sorry for the dark video, forgot to turn on the light):

Some of that sounds like tappets for sure. There is some tapping there that gets more obvious after the video starts which sounds like somebody hitting two drum sticks together. If you get a screwdriver I am sure you will find exactly where the sound comes from.

Oh, correct me if I'm wrong but noisy tappets don't pose a big problem to driving with besides it is a frustrated noise?
Thats next on the list over to-do...

nice diesel sound

Haha

Haha

Well you seemed sufficiently concerned that you produced a video of the noises. It will be simple to find out if the noise is only tappets by using a screwdriver. Besides, it is an interesting excercise to learn how to trace noises in your car using such a simple technique and that way you can pick up problems before the car is at risk of stopping unexpectedly.

The trick with the screwdriver gave me following result (I couldn't pinpoint the extract soundsource, it all seemed loud and noisy):
- Many/some of the sounds is coming from the top of the engine
- It sounds like a very small part of the sounds also is coming from the block, but I don't really know about that...

Compression check
That sounds like a broken ring to me
Its way to deep tappety for a tappet, unless it was way way out of spec

Video may give a false diagnosis tho as it does change noises
Ziggy

Broken pistol ring? That sounds bad :bang:
If it is that, is it a easy fix? :yuck:

Besides the noises and weird sounds, the car yesterday turned on the check engine light and was rough in idle, was hesitating when accelerating and cut out in me once.
My scanner shows following codes:
p300 (Multiple random misfire)
u1600 (I can read that this code has something to do it the key, correct?)
u1602 (communication error)
u1700 (can't really find something about that one, someone knows it?)

Getting an engine in denmark is very expensive so changing a piston ring would be justified and fairly easy once you have the cheap to buy piston ring clamp. Bit of work though. Head and sump have to come off. Both gaskets have to be replaced.

I think you should look at the plugs again.
