Alright guys - Here is a update:

Head gasket was in a bad shape (see pictures in the next posts). It has been replaced and the cylinder head skimmed lightly and cleaned. Wasn't blend or off alignment.

But the car still doesnt start...

I have had the crank sensor out for cleaning that didn't help at all.
The HT-leads and coil packs was tested again but this time with a fresh plug - Result = weak sparks, not any big fat ones..

I guess that I now looking at replacing the crank sensor as the next step ?

was head gasket actually blown?
does it still show misfires?

We were not entirely sure that the head gasket actually blown but the gasket looked like it have been burnt away. Only metal was left.
At some point the gasket could be the reason for the oil spill.

Could it alle been chainreaction of multiple events?? ?
Didn't put a tester on it yet - Will do

The tester shows nothing but the battery has been off as part of the replacement of the gasket, so I guess the ECU has been reset....

hi,

check you've got the bottom pulley on the correct way.. there is a tiny pin hole / and pin for alignment ;)

just cranking MAY log a fault code - IF there is any fault to report,
see if you've still got a spark.., https://www.fiatforum.com/members-motors/308369-non-start.html

then listen carefully when cranking..does it "CHUFF" / seem to burn fuel..?

if nothing.. CAREFULLY spray a small amount of fuel / east start into the throttle body, and briefly crank again,
if this gets a response / attempt to fire.. it points at a fuelling issue,
does the tank pump under rear seat "HUMM" for @5 seconds when turning ignition on..??

Hi again

Buttom pulley - checked (y)

It logs no errors, what so ever...

It sparks okay, not perfect - The sparks seems weak...

Fuel pump goes "HUMM" when ignition is swicthed on (y)

It doesn't seem to "CHUFF" when cranking... (n)

But but we finally got it started when adding a tiny bit of fuel into the throttle body - but it runs very very rough (sounded like a diesel tank..) and stalls as soon as the fuel has been used...

Though we did find out that we had placed the timing belt one tooth wrong...

Look, look, it drives, it drives...

Thanks alot for all the help guys! :worship:

However, it was apparently not the crank sensor that prevented the car from starting. The whole issue was related to the fuel and I do not know why it was not checked earlier what the quality of the fuel in the tank was.

Even though I have a receipt from the local fuel pusher INGO on unleaded 95, it appeared that the tank contained the absolut finest mix of both diesel, water and gasoline. :bang:
Cleaned the tank and filled it with new petrol - Boom, it just jumped into action again... but now it ticks like hell :bang:

GOOD TO HEAR IT'S RUNNING..!!(y)

Sorry to hear of the saga..:(

TICKING..?? from the top of engine / valvetrain, ?
or maybe the injectors working extra hard..??

It sounds like that the ticking comes from the top of the engine - It also did tick a bit before but not this much

Diesel might have cleaned the injectors ??

These cars can be quite noisy from the injectors. Mine are pretty bad.

Oh, so noisy that it can be heard inside the car with closed doors and windows while driving? :)
