can anyone help please

**fiat punto sporting 04 plate**

my fans inside the car are not working on any setting
the temp gauge seems to be working as when on hottest setting can feel it gets hotter and virse verser but got no fan blowing it out

so on the hot days it like a sauna and when it cold i cant demist the windscreen
when i push the settings knob to turn to a/c the light still comes on but no change

garage has quoted between £60-£100 for a fan motorbut my friend said they shouldnt be that hard to fit myself

can anyone help where i find this in my car and how easy it is to change/fix
thankyou

Before you replace, check the plastic connector block that plugs in to the fan. Mine stopped working and it was the earth connector on the block, had become corroded and just needed cleaning up.

Fan is situated under the glovebox on passenger side.

If the block is ok and you do need a fan they are easily replaced. go for about £20 on ebay.

Suddenly no Fans working at all
First thing i'd do is check the chuffing fuses....

But why did the fuse pop? who knows
Seized motor? Got wet and shorted?

AC punto's also use a PWM to power the fans vs a resistor pack
But i believe the fans are the same? either way you can check the fan by giving it a 12v feed and earth

Thanks for both replys I discovered the the fan had been simply disconnected so plug back in and it works but only on full power (setting 4) ((thanks Kwik fit for telling me I need a new fan!))

Does this mean it the resistor???

Non a/c?
Do you have Manual activated AC (pull fan switch out?)
Or active climate control?

If you found the fan - chances are you also can find the resistor pack
its in the same place as the Fan, just abit closer to central dash and then abit closer to the passenger seat

Its got IIRC 4 wires in it
3 power wires (Speed 1 - 2 - 3 ) and Return

I bet if you unplug it - you will find the classical damaged connector - where the resistor packs overheated and melted the terminal

Look here - its when i was mechanic blogging to help with jobs

Thanks Ziggy

I just found resistor and got it disconnected it all just looks a bit rusty

I put it back in now the fans don't work again???

But also now the AC (which is turned on just by pressing in the settings knob) the light comes on on setting 123 but when I go to setting 4 the light goes off again???

Maybe silly question
Fuse for the fan is that under bonnet?

Cause can't see one fitting the description beside steering wheel
