Technical Advice before buying another punto

I hadn't twigged that you had actually bought it... well done anyway it should be a reasonable buy if you

a) know (and like) the cars anyway

and

b) keep on top of things with the help of the Forum

As we get into spring get all the rusty bits rubbed down, treated and painted, you'll also spot any issues that the MOT didn't mention.

Get the brake and clutch fluid changed for peace of mind, and the transmission oil I'd say.

Enjoy your basic Fiat ownership!

Thank you!

Love the cars, shame it took me this long to buy another really. I will be putting it in axle stands shortly and taking a look under the car and treated for any rust and any wire brushing that needs to be done.

Thanks for the advice on the brake and clutch fluid. I shall see if I can find a guide on this to do it myself. :)

Did you know that you can get Total Car Check as an Android (presumably other platforms too) application? It means you can check MOT history while you are still looking at the car, and you can look at the advisory items on the spot.

Some MOT testers go a bit mad with advisories, most cars over a few years old have surface rust on suspension components.

I'd be more concerned about the driver's seat not moving, I'm pretty sure that should be a fail now.

That's what I used before I went to see the car but i check two that were the same year and model and got the MOTs confused. :bang:

Got the car in the end and I do think they went a bit OTT with theadvisory based on rust.

The drivers seat does move and lock. Just need to find the sweet spot for it to move.

I am going to pull the seat out in the nicer weather and see if I can find what is wrong and make it right, if not, probably get a new seat and move the cover to the new one as mine is immaculate.

Thanks for the advice though!
