Hi all,

I have MOT on 2001 MK2 8V on Saturday, and I think it will fail on the driver side headlight alignment. Basically hit a bird last year, and it seems to have broken the bolts underneath the driver's side headlight if there are any?

The top 3 bolts are secure, but the headlight kind of rises up a bit and you can physically push it down a bit and it springs back up. So there is a gap between the headlight and the top of the bumper.

Is there bolt there that snapped which is easy to place? Or could I use double sided duct tape to hold it in place so it is level?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Would cable ties work to keep it level, or am I looking for a whole headlight replacement?

I can't seem to feel any bolts on the passenger side one, so maybe it's a plastic tab or something that keeps it from moving?

light is held with 4 holders, 3 are visible, one is hidden behind wing, if plastic holders broke they can be easily welded back on
If only i had access to a welder...

Is there anyway to tie it down termporarily without moving the bumper forward, or will this be the only way?

Attched photos of the headlight and surrounding area

not necessarily, you need one plastic mount welded + polish the lens, dunno how much they charge for that, both are easy and fast jobs with correct tools- 15 mins for both, could be less money if you buy whole new headlight or not, phone around for prices for welding+polishing
Thank you so much for the advice. Taking it to a Fiat "specialist" after work today, so will see how much that is.
