Starting a new thread to keep things simple.

My car has now had New Battery, Re con PS motor. Still have the PS light on but no loss in steering, still have the ABS and (!) lights flashing, and now a U1700 code.

Had to call AA other day as it cut out and wouldn't start - later that day I fitted a new Crank sensor. Still wouldn't start. 2 Hours later, purring like a kitten, but still throwing out the above code, and the lights above still illuminated.

Am I correct in thinking this is more than likely ECU given I have had previous issues with coils and leads?

poor earth sounds likely,

what was the fault code from the PAS..?? as it should clear now;)

I am hoping, its sorted.

Clean all electrical contacts - fuses, connections under column and ECU contacts.

Found a lose earth on the throttle body, directly under the near edge of the air filter.

Put it all together, warning lights off and is running ok (so far!)

U1700 allegedly relates to Canbus Steering ECU?
