Hi,
Yes it's common and a bad connection is likely. If the car has seat mounted (side) airbags the connections under the seat are a possible cause. Some models ae prone to failure of the switch / wiring loom for the passenger airbag disable switch. Search the forums here for more information. To save checking items individually you can use diagnostic software like Multiecuscan < www.multiecuscan.net > to see exactly what the airbag computer thinks is wrong. You should be able to use the free version to look at airbags depending on the exact model of your car. Multiecuscan is much more informative than the self contained fault readers.

Thanks for the quick reply. im going to have a look at the wiring tomorrow and i'll run a diagnostic check in te meantime.

Check if it's consistent with you braking while driving. Mine pops on then off when the brakes are applied. This is because water has got into my rear light and I think it's causing a bad connection. Worth a check?

Hi,
Checking while brakinging is a good idea, but I can't see water in the brake lights affecting the airbags. What can cause issues with braking is loose connections. Wiring looms or items under the seat moving under the G force and pull on connections. tMy wife has broken more than one seat airbag connection shoving her case of CDs under the seat

Hi Robert.

It doesn't sound normal for the brake lights to affect but considering some have been unable to start there car with dodgy connectors on their lights, it's Defo a possibility. Personally speaking there is nothing in my car to damage the wiring and I don't even have a passenger airbag lol!!

thanks for replying. im pretty sure i just had a loose connection. i disconnected it. wiggled the wires about and put it back in and i haven't had problems since but i also haven't been up any really bumpy roads since so i hope that was the solution :)
