A week or two ago the airbag warning light started coming on, but it has never stayed on all the time. As the warning appeared intermittently my partner and I assumed it might be a wiring fault. After taking it to the garage they said it was a squid error:

P000F - N/S/F air bag squid.
P000E - O/S/F air bag squid.

And commented the only way to fix is to replace the air bags. My question is, if we have to replace the airbags, would it be okay to get used ones from a breaker? I did some searching in the forums and it seems like getting new airbags could be pretty costly!

If there was a fault with either of those two airbags then the light would be permanently on and not intermittent, you do not need to replace your airbags. One failing is rare both is unheard of. Either find a different garage or get someone on here local to you to look at the error codes

I agree with Andy, highly unlikey that two airbags would fail at the same time, but why have got marine cephalopods in your car

(it's a squib, not a Squid).
It is most likely a wiring fault, probably a connector issue, possibly the airbag ECU plug. disconnect the battery, wait 10 minutes, unplug the ECU and inspect the plug for corrosion etc. Plug back in and see what you get.
