Hi folks need some advice from the wise ones on here.

I am fitting a 1.2 block to my 1.1 engine and I was thinking of skimming it first (head already ported and skimmed)

1. Is is worth it ?? (eg better compression - better fit so less chance of blown head gasket)

2.Is there a recommended skim value ?

3.Will this make the engine an interference engine (ugh!!)

If its an 8v head, the alloy is very thick, so unless that head has had 10+ skims, youre not likely to get remotely close to valve damage.

If the head is already skimmed and you trust its been done, dont waste money.

As for 'skim value', no such thing. A skim is intended to make the head unilaterally even across the entire face of the head that will mate with the block.

At a cost of £25-£40, its best handled by a professional company if a skim is required.

And as fad as im aware, there are no differences between 1.1 and 1.2 heads, the extra capacity is done in the block.

Heads warp easy, blocks not so much. If it's flat within spec I wouldn't bother. I can't see skimming the deck alone is going to do anything noticeable for performance. The ecu will do it's own thing anyway.
