My problem is when im driving randomly the check engine light will come on and the temp needle with drop too 0, then further down the road after a few mins the needle will then rise 1/4 of the way up and stay there and the check engine light will still stay on.
The car drive fine, there is no burning smell and no misfire code or any fault codes being brought up on the scanner.
After a few starts of the car the light will go off and the needle will go back too the middle and read normally but my question is what could be causing this as I am at a complete and utter loss !
Car is 1.2 8v mk2

iffy stats & Airlocks can cause this to happen too,

I came back and after bleeding the system once again with new fluid still the issue seems to happpen, whats the temp sensor circuit whats the next plan of action you suggest? :s

if the EML is on - there is a code stored

It just means your reader wasn't talking to the car properly

Anyway - you see to be getting the suddenly occouring round of failing coolant sensor circuit
It may be a dodgey connection, or a dying thermister, or a broken wire
