My punto went in for a service this morning, its a 2000 done 65k miles, and hasnt had a service in about 30k miles, so fair enough itll need stuff done, but its costing me £270 *cries*

It needs rear brake shoes (knew about those but couldnt be bothered)
Cambelt changed, timing belt changed
standard service stuff etc

so the garage is doing it all for £270 inc vat and labour

*cries* Im a poor student! :bang:

Sounds like a lot I guess but just think of how many more miles you'll get once its done! You could try doing the brake shoes yourself? Its not difficult. Only have to watch out for those frickin springs!

:)

He he - brake shoes are the real test for anyone saying "I'll have a go myself".

My advice, take a pic BEFORE you take it apart.

:)

Doesn't sound too bad, but then I'm no longer a student. I couldn't afford to run a car when I was... Is that a main dealer or a local garage?

Head gasket OK on the Punto? Mine went at 65k :(

its a local garage, I hope the head gasets ok, they didnt say anything to me when I picked the car up there, they just said watch the fluid levels etc

My car doesnt have a speedo! lol. £150 for a new unit plus £50 labour. Weirdly the speedo isnt part of the MOT and therefore can pass reading 26mph even when stood still or 145mph when in reverse.

Once you own a car you have no money, one of the perks

I re-read this, and saw it's nod had a service for 30k miles! Remind me not to buy a car off you. Could be worse - my Coupe needs new front brakes, and good ones are £500 for the parts. :(
