I have Punto 1.9 HGT 5 speed gearbox is ok but on motorway a bit too high revs average 48mpg, but this mind be awkward question to ask can the M20 or M32 or F40 gearbox to fit in my car? because that I know that Vauxhall/Fiat/Saab/Alfa use same engine block as my 1.9JTD 8V is the bolt are same to fit in? I know to need add gearlink etc. is anyone know that someone have done replace gearbox on Punto JTD?

Yours is a multijet not a JTD (although that academic)

The box might fit the engine but the gear linkages may not be right, the biggest issue is going to be if the drive shafts fit which they won't and you'll probably need custom drive shafts.

Given that all those car will be simarlly geared I'm not sure what you hope to achieve, they heavier car slightly more power but still less fuel economy. (Top gear ratios and final drive will see very little difference between those gear boxes and the HGT box, which is specific to your car anyway, you would likely have to change the clutch and flywheel too as all these cars have a different setup because of the gear box, and they all have dual mass fly wheels

The multijet hgt is rated at 53mpg so 48 really isn't far off that and in this cold weather it won't perform as well either.
