Well i got a new alarm/remote central locking kit and went to fit it today, wired up +12v and GND and indicators fine, and i'm having a few problems with the central locking.

THe car, being an SX came with keyed central locking which worked fine. However. with the remote....

The locking only works when the door is open (obviously it unlocks straight away again). When the door is closed, the doors don't lock at all. Whats wrong? Is something not powerful enough?

Secondly, the instuctions with the kit weren't all that clear, consisted of a main wiring diagram and usage instructions. What do the connectors ACC and "Door Switch" (+ and -) mean?

And finally, in the kit was a strange metal spring loaded rod with one connector....what is it and what does it do?!

Please Help! (I can post the alarm wiring diagram if that will help)

right the strange pin is a spare switch to mount on your bonnet slam to protect the engine bay area.
acc means accessory circuit.some cars have this setting on the ignition before the main ignition switch comes on.
door switch is the little pin switch on the door hinge side that brings on the interior light. + is the power going into the rear of this switch and it - comes through it being screwed to the bodywork

Ok thanks, I thought it might have been for that door light but i wasnt sure. Is the ACC connection essential, or can it be left alone?

Any idea about the doors not locking when shut?

Well, heres a scan of the wiring diagram taken from the kit.

Am I right in using the topmost (starred) connection method for the central locking wires? If so, why is the thing not locking!!!

Please help!

Yeah there is that - the doors aren't allowed to be locked when open, so if you try, it just pops back up again. I know that is happening but...

Problem is, when the door is open, at least it attempts to lock, its just when the door is closed, it just doesn't seem lock or attempt to lock at all....?

The kit is based on a "CHAP-2L" processor - doesn't have a model number i'm aware of, i dont think its the M20 Meta kit.

Hi,

i've got the kit like you have and also have the same problems with the central lock.

Have you managed to figure out something?

Help!!

Hi i figured mine out, sorta...

I got the central locking to work by doing the following:

Yellow/Black from alarm -----> White from alarm -------> Car central locking "up" line
White Black from alarm ------> Car central locking "down" line
Orange/Black ---------------> Yellow from alarm ------> Car central locking "common" line
Yellow (as above)
White (as above)
Orange (not used)

Don;t ask how i did it, just a really long process of trial and error... ;)

However, the only thing that isn't working is + / - door switch wires (for door open notification). I'm working on them tomorrow.
