Heyyy...

Having engine management problems with my Fiat Punto 55 plate.

Engine management light was first displayed on my dash board 6 months ago, took my car to the garage and they said i needed new coil packs, spark plugs and leads. Which all were replaced.

When the garage told me about the replacement of my coil packs, leads and plugs they did inform me that the ECU may need changing.

6 months later, Engine management light appeared on dash board and car is not running properly.

Loss of power in the engine, feels like its only running on two cylinders. No missfireing.

Run a diagnostic check on my car and the code P0315 appeared, meaning ignition.

from knowing that i have had my Coil pack spark plugs and leads replaced. im Pretty sure i need a new ECU.

Going to buy a new P3 ECU (self Programming) from a reliable website and fit it myself.

Does anyone have any advice for me on this matter?

like the steps of changing my ECU. and how to re-programme it?

Would i need new keys? or do i just need to disconnect the key coding? or something?

Any help would be appreciated as im new to the whole car thing! :):):):)

Most come virginised, so that it learns the key as on its first attempt to start
It varies from place to place as whats what

But idearly you need to keep the Coding to the key to the car, no coding for the car basically means it a hella lot easier to steal, as there is no longer an immboliser :(

But before condeming the ECU as been dead
have you rechecked the current spark / HT / Coils?

Have you checked the cars wiring loom with a multi-meter to ensure no burnt out wires or chaffed wires?

Has there been a compression test done to ensure the engine isn't actually dying due to lack of compression?

Its nice to see that 1 garage did a full overhaul to fix it, instead of just 1 part of it tho :)

Thanks Both to getting back in touch with me so quick!

after speaking to many people and garages today i did some checks of my coil packs.

I removed the first two leads from the twin coil pack (towards the front of the car) and tried to switch my engine on and it wasn't even starting. it was turning over

Meaning that the back twin coil packs are broken, right?

so to replace my back two coil packs how would i go about changing them.

Is there any guides on how to do this?

and is the twin coil back towards the boot of the car different to the ones at the front of the car?

thanks very much :):):):)

Jessica :)
