my power steering light sometimes stays on after start-up, after speaking to the dealers, they reckon the cause is.....i have big feet  , so am coming into contact with the steering shaft and fouling some sensors

it may be possible cause occasionally i feel my feet on the steering shaft, but think nothing of it

my question is, is there any sensors on steering shaft or nearby?

are they fobbing me off, to save themselves a job and me a trip up to see them

it's under warranty and have something done to power steering light a few weeks after i got it, im hoping they would of sorted out the orginal problem with it and this is a different one

cheers (y)

There are sensors, but not on the shaft by your feet, they are all internal behind all the coulings - I believe the problem is that your dealer is a bit rubbish.

If they carried out a 'Examiner' check there would be a fault stored - you would then start to make a diagnosis from there.

Worse case you will need a new steering coloumn assembly - but there relatively easy to fit, plus its warranty so whats the problem with the dealer - contact Fiat customer care and tell them exactly what happened and that your "really concerned for your safety" ;) , see what they say.

thanks for the info :)

this was a diagnosis over the phone lol

the dealer is 45mins - 1hr away , so try not to go there if i can

i hope my warranty is still intact, they not contacted me about my service which is over due

Which was going to be my reply, I am sure FIat wouldn't have designed the car that way - unless Italians have small feet.

but you have no clutch, i seem to be catching steering shaft when i go for clutch pedal

you most probably are suppose to phone but they usually send out a reminder :( , i mustnt be special, it gone past the 30 days grace period

Its not the dealers fault if you dont book your car in for service, if the warranty is invalidated then you lose out.

You get 1000 miles / 1months grace past your service due date.

Stated in service book - as long as Fiat parts are used, any vat registered garage can do it.

im passed the 1 months grace period

was reading service book a few months back and said to myself i better get date written down for service

My dealer relies on the post, we know exactly when the letter was written, we know when it was sent, but unfortunately we dont know if it gets to the person concerned. If the customer is late booking for a service/mot then it goes on a late business list and this is then chased via phone, we also send out reminders via email. Its still not our responsibilty though if a customer doesnt have a car serviced.
