Re: mk2 punto engine siezed

Its a yes
However
It really is 10x easier to drop the gearbox and engine as one lump

Engine mounts x3
Coolant - Oil - Gearbox oil - Pipework - Big fusebox disconnected
Remove Driveshafts
Drop engine and box on floor gently

I took my engine out via the top
But getting engine back in was alot harder, espically when the engine slipped in its straps and was at a stupid angle for getting in....

While the engine is out
Change Cambelt - spark - waterpump and good clean
Because transmission is removed as well - i'd seriously consider sticking a new clutch in there too

It took me 3 1/2 days as a total mechanic noobisity todo it
But tbh i did have issues with 2 snapped wires causing no solenoid and no alternator charge

You need a sheltered space (garage / carport) And lots of room
An engine crane is much required too! a tilter for the crane wouldnt go a miss
If you have 1 of the 2 engine crane hooks on the exhaust manifold it saves some hassel there too!!

i was going to say this too, remove the belt and then see if engine turns.

also taking engine out without the box is like trying to remove your underpants without taking your trousers off first.

seized alternators preventing engine from turning over....
