My clutch has gone....
It feels very slack and wont go into gear - it starts to grind if I try and put it in reverse. Its also been leaking fluid.

Any ideas whats gone wrong? And how much it might cost?? (UK)

THANKS!!

If it is slack it may not be pulling the clutch plate far enough away for a gear change.
Leaking fluid - thats a bit vague, what sort of fluid and where from? If its gearbox oil the box could overheat and sieze, leaking clutch fluid (diverted from the brake fluid reservior) may stop the clutch plate lifting but then the brakes would eventually fail. It could have nothing to do with it and could be sump oil, head gasket problem, split water coolant pipe etc.

Best bet is to get it to a pro as soon as possible (Not FIAT).

im sorry! i dont know much about cars generally.... all i know is the clear fluid is coming from the right of the engine somewhere and the clutch has gone floppy - although it isnt sticking. i'll have to call someone out cos' i cant move it anywhere!

thanks for your help

Sounds like your leaking Hydrolic fluid as if its low the clutch pedal will move with verry little pressure! it will also prevent the clutch from disengaging prop!
Check the level at the brake fluid reservoir! even air in the system will make the pedal soft! ye think you should get it looked at!

I assume you have checked fluid levels as I recall clutch and brakes share fluid in the punto so check NOW!!!
You don't say where the fluid is leaking but I would assume if clutch isn't working well it will be at the slave cylinder on top of gearbox. A new one is about £20 so have it checked changed and bled.
If leak is not at slave cylinder let us know where it is.
