Hi All,

Back again with another problem with my mk2, ive noticed that its revving really high on idle.. it revs up and down on its own, from 1800 - 2000 rpm, if i put my handbrake in and slowly release my clutch to drop the revs to around 900 it will stay there but i have to do that every time.

When it gets hot or when I "boot" it, after 5 minutes it will literally cough and splutter and Judder/Misfire, it wont go anywhere, feels like a limp mode kind of thing, any ideas?! Its really stressing me now.

Already changed the Plugs Leads and Coils.

Cheers in advance:cool:

If you do not get any fault codes or just o2 sensor codes check for air leaking in at the join between the inlet manifold and the head.

I once had a Megane that behaved exactly as you describe and that was simply a failed inlet manifold gasket. Part only cost £3 but lots of labour to get to it on the megane. At least with the punto it's slightly easier to replace the gaskets.

there is 5 :(
1 throttle body to inlet mani
4 inlet manifold to cylinder head as well :(
memory serves correctly - i think temp sensor comes with housing and means coolant has to be drained off too.... :(

You are correct the temp sensor is on the end of manifold and the two bolts holding it in are a nightmare to get a tool on. The other manifold bolts are a peice of cake in comparison. I think you would get away with only draining a little coolant out as the temp sensor is a high point in the system. Of course you would then have to bleed the system after.
