Hi,

My wife has a 2000 punto diesel 1.9, the passenger side air bag light used to come on intermitantly which i have now sorted (I hope?) with help from the other posts on the subject, however at the same time the main red airbag light stays on all the time, now i dont know if the other one triggered a fault message or if i have another problem as it appears that the unit will have to be reset to get rid of the light I am unable to tell.

However the reason for this post , most post says the faults usually lie with the seat load sensors or the wires to the seat, now heres the rub... we dont seam to have any wires, connectors going anywhere need the seats!!! just looked at the multipla (yes we are daft enough to have 2 fiats!) and the connectors are prtty obvious as expected. I even got the wife to have a look on the Punto in case my eyes were even worse than I thought they were...

So is it possible to have airbags without load sensors in the seats.. is there a cunning way they have hidden them and the wires in some models??

I am really stumped the MOT is due at the beginning of October

Having asked around, some local MOT stations say they would fail it and others not, and interestingly the one that does not fail them, does have the equipment to reset them anyway for £25.

Any ideas... cheers Brian

Take it to a dealer & get it checked out properly...ask & make sure only a DET works on the airbag system as they are the only ones authourised to do so.

Ok it will cost maybe £30-45 but at what cost the possibility of someones life?
