Having just found this fab site I have been intrigued to find that my 2000 'W' 1.2 5Dr Hatch Punto is not the only one which revs off the meter all of it's own accord when the gas isn't pressed. Flicking the gas sometimes clears it but often I have to switch off the engine , which isn't the safest thing to do sitting in the rush hour on the motorway!!!

I have had two dealers look at it and find nothing wrong, the last time they attached there computer thing and reset everything, said that would be it and low and behold it did it again 100yds from the garage when i was sitting in traffic after picking the car up.

So now they've decided that it 'might be' the throttle body that needs replaced, this seems a possibility as a few people on here have had success replacing it. When the part was ordered the guy in the garage suggested it may be £400+ for the part. After reading a few posts on here that seems very steep. So what is a 'fair' price for the throttle body. It's going in on Thursday so quick adavice would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally, seeing as this problem first happened before the warranty expired in April but the Fiat dealers couldn't/wouldn't find anything wrong with it what do people think are my chances of getting some kind of redress back from Fiat. A three year old car with only 39k miles should not need major parts replaced. Seeing this appears to be a fairly common problem too as far as I can see with the posts on here they must have something to say.

Any help/advice would be great.
