Hello all...

After my car stereo was nicked last week I have become used to hearing every little sound coming from the car. Something I have noticed is that there is a kind of a grating (not worrying) or rubbing sound coming from the front of the car. It seems to be comng from the front left. I thought maybe it was the brake pads are due a replace but they are ok. I am wondering now if it is the clutch. Just this morning I noticed when in neutral, if the clutch is engaged there is a similar sound and when it is disengaged, it goes quiet. Maybe this is normal? Does the clutch have to be adjusted in any way as it wears?

Any ideas?

Have you checked your radiator?
I had a rattle when I was idles, it was more noticable when i changed from neutral to first when I first started off, and the same for reverse.
The rattle was caused fro mteh radiator coming out of its brackets and falling down at an angle toward the ground.
Now I just have a hi-pitched whistle when I accelarate, I think this is from the misplaced radiator, I have pierced a pipe.

have you checked the plate behind brake disk? they tend to warp at the botton and rub on the disk, just needs bending back if its that

I had that noise - replaced the full clutch which was a bit pricey but hey presto no dodgy noises or rattles from the front of the car!

I can't be bothered,work on customers cars all day so dont want to come home & do mine.....anyway the heatshield rattling on the exhaust is louder so I dont notice it anymore

Yeah my heat shield bangs really badly too!

Fixed my heatshield today .......now I can hear the thrust bearing again! Oh well
