Hi!

My Punto 2003, 60 hp was running fine, until yesterday when suddenly the battery warning appear, and I coudn´t start my car! It has brand new sparkplugs so it must be something else!
Today I retried to start my car, and it started really smooth, like nothing happend, but the yellow engine light appears, and according to the manual it´s something with the ignition/and or fule system!

Does anyone else had the same problem also?

A week ago or so, I was driving to Stockholm and back home, a trip with about 200 km or so, then I was noting several times that the same yellow engine light was blinking..

Does someone have some ideas if I can focus only on the ignition system, because it ran & started really good today, except the engine light?

The engine light means that the ECU has picked up a signal that is out of bounds, and will have stored the error code.

Just get the code read (anyone with an OBD2 reader should be able to get it).

Okey, so the OBD2 will do it, thanks will try to find the problem later. Have just now orded an OBD Mobile Bluetooth scan! Hope to fix it, not fun at all to be carless..

a flashing engine light is a missfire

OK, so you say a flashing engine light means missfire? That is not good, well still have to wait for the OBD2 to come, so that I can se the engine faut code!!
Well I have just change the sparkplugs, so it must be something else!?!? The flashing was before the new sparkplugs btw..

Leads are generally more prone to causing a misfire than the plugs -- life expectancy of all but the very best is about 4 years.

Ok, well I can´t imagine that the sparks are causing this problem, so you think the leads are making this problem. Well hope so, have to wait until my OBD2 arives..

It'll generally only show a generic misfire code, though (if sparks or leads).

Still, has it been damp there recently?

A quick and cheap temporary test is to put WD40 on a cloth and to wipe and clean the HT leads with it.

when its dark look under bonnet/hood at leads and see if sparks are dancing around the out side of them

1. ¤P0301 Misfire cyl. 1 detected.
2. ¤P0300 Multiple cyl misfire detected. Ok this is good to know...But..
3. ¤U1601 Unknown fault code
4. ¤U1600 Unknown fault code

Please help me!

Number 1, and 2 can be fixed by change the spark leads??
Number 3, and 4 is what??

Ignore 3 and 4
They are canbus Developing codes
If the key code wasn't clearly read one time, it'll leave a note saying so
They are both related to key issues, but if your not having starting issues then delete and ignore them

if you have a couple of car keys on the key set - it may have read those before yours and its complaining about it

Leads are probably the best place to start.

The other codes are an immobiliser error and a canbus error.

May be transient. Anyway, get rid of the misfire first.

I have just make an order on new leads.. so have to wait and see, tried the car today, with great sucess, the car went good for 10 minutes and then ´, when it reached 76 C it just maked the quick stop again, only some issue regarding LT fule trim B1
(around 18%)?? Well will have to wait until the leads for now..
