Helloooooo....

I hate my Cinq (coz it's crud) and am thinking of getting a new punto.... but as they stopped all offers on the 16v Active Sport i think im gonna be left with the 8v.....

Does anyone here own one? I've had a test drive but you can't really tell alot in 10 minutes, i'd like to know about any problems etc.. or if the engine feels totally powerless and pathetic and bla bla bla.... anything you can think of really!

Apart from that wow what a pretty car! Hope my bank man likes me this week B) Cheers guys.

Me got one and i love it!

Engine certainly doesn't feel gutless. Not exactly a speed demon, but it's great to chuck around

Had no probs so far apart from the drivers door lock flap breaking off last winter (tho old punto did that too).

Oh and the Sub is naff so i took mine out.

Thanks Went to dealer today to buy one but the bloody computers had broken Just my sodding luck, not very often i make a big decision so easily! Didnt tell them i was an IT Tech harhar!! The facelift model doesnt come with a sub so no worries there. I noticed they were small and pathetic anyway! Shame they dont come with remote locking... i'm such a fadget freak [^] Hopefully i'll get a call from them soon, and should have one by DECEMBER [:0]

The 8v Active Sports are not a bad little car, the 16v is undoubtedly better, but there is nothing wrong with the 8v. As Richie said, not a speed demon, but its lively enough and pulls surprisingly well for a small low-power engine and they are fun to drive. Good interiors too.

Yeah the interiors are mint! Nice arm-chair sized sports seats and aluminium effect centre console and door handles, yum!

Fiat St Erth still haven't rung me back, and this is since saturday! Maybe as they're the only dealer this side of the Tamar Bridge they're not too bothered about my sale B) (WANT ONE NOW!)

in my personal opinion i can only say DON'T DO IT!
thats only because i loved my cinq and screwed the engine so bought a Mk2 1.2 8v active sport. its completely taken the fun out of driving, the most comfortable car i've ever driven, don't get me wrong but sooooooooo booorrriiinngg!!! to drive. (unless you modify it, i am, i have to before i die of boredom)
if it was me i would go for the sceicento schumacher, nicer interior than the cinq and more fun than the Punto, perfect match.

but thats me, just annoyed that i didnt take my own advice

just read that back and maybe i'm being a little harsh.

cars done me great for 18 months and done 26000+ miles without a single fault. does 90 all day on the motorway and uses jack all petrol, well about the same as cinq.
all i've had to do is change the headlight bulbs, almost impossible but if you have small hands you'll be fine, and get new tyres(what more can you expect with my mileage)
the misus loves it(has the city/girlie button)

(don't buy a black one and take it through a car wash, results are expensive)

HEHE no i like the Sprint blue or Broom yellow!

U reckon i should try and squeeze something out of them? Maybe if you know Barry you could put in a good word for me

Vauxhall.... eurgh. It's sweeeet tho, Bright red with all the wheel arches/grill/side skirts etc in body colour (not standard) and Irmscher twin elipttical exhaust, blacked out lights, de-badged boot and 15" loys. YUM!

Richie C: maybe i was the lucky one, have got a pic of the speedo on my cinq at 116mph pushing into the redline in 5th, i know thats not the actual speed but its a damn lot more than i can get out of my punto. i did have a twin exit exhaust which made it sound fast to me aswell, so it felt fun.

oh well, personal preference i suppose

have seen those Corsa's, damn nice looking, but not anywhere near the potential of a Punto.

Got Sprint Blue, wanted yellow but thats 300 quid i can spend on beer and gadgets, and the blue was the colour of the model in the brochure so i went for that. I'll save my yellow dream for the barchetta im gonna get when im 857
