Car reached 110 thousand miles this week. The valves have not been reshimmed since new.
Clearances now are;
1 2 3 4
IN 0.38 0.36 0.38 0.36
EX 0.48 0.50 0.50 0.48

Spec IN 0.40 +/- 0.05 EX 0.45 +/- 0.05
Time for shims. Pretty amazing performance all the same. What strikes me is that they are so even and the exhausts are wearing in the safe direction. I would expect these to close up normally ?

The gaps shouldn't close up
But only get bigger

I'm more used to old aircooled things with exhausts closing up fairly quick.

You may pick up a teeny weeny bit of power by doing the exhausts.
But, hey, I grew up with engines that needed opening and closing shims checking every thousand miles, so rather enjoy shimming. ;)

So I won't need the induction kit then :)
I like shimming, especially using cable ties to get them out.
