Hello all .my other half has a 2002 sporting punto..the gear box or clutch has gone it just constantly revs when applying the throttle ..I've been to a couple of garages not main dealers but fiat specialist ..and they say the box needs replacing but apparently fiat don't make them anymore .. id say get a new car but she dearly loves her car .. we were also quoted £1000+ vat to rebuild the original one which is probably 3x what the car is worth ..any thoughts people.. advice or contacts that may solve this problem ..cheers ..!!

used speedgear box's can be got quite cheap these days, i know a man who does fix them in sudbury suffolk if that is near to you

would depend on whats needed, mine didnt move at all, he stripped it welded a part of inner planetery gears and rebuilt the box cost £250. but when i got mine done used box's were over £500 now you can pick them up for under £250
Cheers for the info. Don't fancy a used one that could end up the same way in no time. would rather go down the route of recon and ensure it has a better chance of lasting longer.

i only took the box to him so dont know about removing it and refitting.
