Hi there

I have been searching the web and this forum a lot, but all airbag problems seem to be with the light in the dash ON.

I have a mk2 1.2 8v and failed my ITV (Spanish MOT) because the airbag light is NOT coming on when you start the car / have ignition on. I am going to my mechanic one of these days, but would like to have an idea before as to what it is. Any ideas? If it was the standard "faulty earth by passenger seat" would that not make the light come ON?

Would it just be a blown bulb (is it bulbs or LEDs in these?)? If LED, is it problematic to change?

I hope it's not some sort of ECU / controller problem. Just had the main ECU changed, where two first ECUs delivered were faulty.

If your not getting the 2 airbag lights coming on when you put the ignition on
(Red major fault warning + Yellow Passenger airbag deactivated switch)

then it sounds like the LED's have failed, or they have been removed because of a fault before you got the car

dash clocks out and inspection needed

Just had it at the mechanic. It was just the LED that had gone, so had a new soldered in and then a reset of the airbag ECU needed.

Faulty led or a substandard led fitted from factory or even a knock
