Thinking of getting a new radio for my car.

Question is, i have a 1.8 HGT Abarth which has a built in sub in the boot. Will putting it onto the new radio cause it to be constantly on draining the battery or will it just operate the same as it is now?

This is the radio, [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00GUD966U/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE"]Sony CDX-G1000U Car Radio (CD-Player, AUX-Input, USB, 4x 55 Watt): Amazon.co.uk: Electronics@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41q0Cb549BL.@@AMEPARAM@@41q0Cb549BL[/ame]

Hi,
The fiat subs are on a ignition ..feed wire
iirc its a grey wire...
If your not altering the cars radio wiring it shouid switch off as normal.

Its aftermarket radios that drain battery's...so make sure its wired in correctly when you fit it..

See forum guides.

I think the subwoofers are on a constant power feed - Told to ""wake up"" by that Grey Remote wire you are on about

If the current stereo is telling the subwoofer to stay on - then yes it'll flatten the battery

You'll need to check a wiring diagram, download the manual from here if it is available. I don't have my CD any more, gave it to a friend 100 miles away.

IIRC the subwoofer is told to switch on by a feed from the original head unit, but not in the main wiring plug, but one of the little coloured extras. You may need to take a feed from the new unit's auto aerial output to tell the sub to come on.
