Hi all,

Once again, I'm thinking about changing stuff on my car.. I've been interested in the Abarth badges for a while now, but don't know how its gunna work.

I've currently got the original blue Fiat badges on my Punto, but they're all water damaged and are pulling the look of my car down.

I was just wondering whether anyone knows if its possible to either do a straight swap of badges (obviously taking off the old ones) or whether there is a sticker that I could cover the original badge with?

I would also like help from anyone who has experience of removing the badges off their Punto's (mainly the rear one).

Thanks
Rhys

If you like to try doing things yourself it is possible to split the current badge open to spray or paint i did this as i had an abarth one and it didnt fit properly.

Im sure they have a guide on here for it aswell :) here a pic of mine colour coded

Looks good man :) I just need to know how to take off the badges without damaging the paintwork and the badge. Also how didn't the Abarth badge fit?

Rhys

I've found some Abarth badges that would fit my car.. I just don't know if they will be able to be attached to my car.. It says in the description that the badges have two retaining lugs and a bolt on one and a two lugs and an adhesive pad on the other. How to the current badges on my car fit on? Would these badges be a straight swap?

Can anybody help me?

Heres a link to the badges (read the description):

Thanks,
Rhys

The grande punto badges do fit, it sits off the car a little though as the grande punto isnt curved where the badge goes. So it can go on but it all doesnt fit flush

This is on the back though i dont know about the front because i have a badgeless grill haha, heres a picture of mine when it was on quite rubbish quality

The badge on the back is just literally stuck on with sticky foam so should just peel off but be careful not to scratch your boot when trying.

The front badge is just held on with one bolt on the back of the grill all you have to do is remover the grill from the car then remove the badge but be careful as the bolt rusts and often snaps so id suggest using wd40 or such like first :)

Thanks for all your help mate :) Picture was really useful.. I've been trying to imagine what it would look like, and now I know! I actually quite like the badge. If the badge doesn't sit flush with the car does that mean it lets water and stuff get behind it? That wouldn't be cool..

Thanks and loving your Punto man ;)

Well it didnt let water into my car but i imagine water was behind the bits that wernt stuck. If you stick it on when its the areas dry and clean it should be fine.

Theres an alternative- ive seen someone do it before where they cut into the badge and removed bit into a curve to fit it more flush :)

Ah ok, I'm sure I could manage to put the back one on alright.. Its just getting the old badge off thats bugging me. I can just imagine a massive strip of paint coming off with it!

I also badly need to get a badgeless grill, or fit an Abarth badge to the front.. The front one sounds easier to fit.. less damage to be caused :)

Cheers

Well ive got the badgeless front and i like it on.
I dont think it would rip anything off but you could try heating it up with a hair dryer to heat up the sticky foam behind but dont over heat your paintwork :)

A cheeky picture of the badgeless front grill ;)

Thanks for your advice, I've been wanting a badgeless grill since I brought my Punto.. Of course I didn't buy it early enough so now the prices have gone up to £50-60! Guess ill have to save... I think a badgeless grill would be the way I'd go definitely.

I'm liking you Punto btw.. How did you attach your tow strap?

Rhys

Thanks

The black and chrome one looks quite smart.

How do your tow straps attach to your car? Do you screw them into the tow hole? I've seen a few on eBay that look like they screw in..

Hiya,

Was the Abarth badge you got 85mm? I can only find 85mm rear badges on eBay. Also they all have lugs that i need to cut off aswell..

Where did you get yours from?

Rhys

Sorry for not replying faster :/
The tow strap i had to drill it out to a 16 mm then get a 16mm bolt to put it in.
The badge i had was indeed an 85mm one and i just got it from ebay i think its off a grande punto :) ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1405788284.767379.jpgImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1405788314.880759.jpg
A couple of photos to show you one the back the grey is just a self adhesive foam and if you can see where the two prongs have snapped off to make it fit hope this helps

Cheers mate, no worries about the reply, I've got no money at the moment so I can't even afford one of the badges yet! Just need to weigh up whether or not to do it. My only worry is that it doesn't sit flush with rest of the bodywork.

The tow strap looks epic.. Drilling sounds a bit frightening haha!

Cheers again,
Rhys

Unfortunately i dont have any pictures of it sitting off the car :/

Nah the drilling wasnt bad it was only on the towing strap so it didnt affect the car, i wouldnt be as sure about drilling anything on my car :)
