After having my clutch replaced a couple of weeks ago, its making a noise. Im not sure how long for as i only noticed today pulling down a narrow driveway.

Basically theres no noise when you press the pedal down, and no noise when you lift the pedal (in neutral)

When its in gear, pressing the clutch down is silent but as you start to lift the clutch and accelerate it makes a hissing noise, and stops when the clutch is fully lifted. Sounds a bit like rushing air (theres no noise when accelerating in neutral)

Also a few times I've noticed when reversing, as you lift the clutch and put revs on theres a humming noise, doesn't do it all the time, only every now and then.

Just wondering if its worth taking back to the garage to get it looked at or if its nothing to worry about?

Probably worth noting the clutch feels fine, no slipping, the biting point feels fine, very light, smooth, its not slipping or juddering and no ticking/knocking noises from it.

Thanks

It was a mates, dad's best mate who is a mechanic who did the clutch.

My mates dad has had a listen and said he has heard it a couple of times on new clutches and it usually fades as the pressure plate wears in over the next 1500 - 2000 miles. But told me to keep an eye on it and if it gets worse to take it back to get looked at.

Just wanted to check on here, do you think its worth getting it checked over anyway? It is only a very faint noise.

'Get some more miles on it,'

if noise increases then, obviously theres something wrong,

ive fitted a fair few clutches on punto's and never had any probs ialways'd swapped out with (LUK)

I know he bought the clutch kit from fiat. Said he will only fit genuine clutches, and the clutch, bearing and gearbox were changed not sure what , if else was replacedu. Gearbox has only done 35k too and is really smooth and quiet, also had new gearbox oil put in it.

It's not a problem as such, clutch is light as a feather and smoother than its ever been, has no judder which feels odd! Has always had a judder in second gear but not any more. Was just a little concerned about the hissing noise which can only be heard from outside the car.

does this noise go when clutch pedal is pressed in,?

You dont have to go to main agent to buy genuine part's.. there is a section on this forum where you can buy part's from good supplier's /genuine parts at discounted price's.

you can save some coin's if you look around this here forum'. ;)

There's no noise when the clutch is in or out, say it's in neutral (silent) press the clutch in (silent) put into first (silent) lift clutch and start to accelerate, then there's a slight hissing noise, a bit like rushing air for a couple of seconds until clutch is past the bite.

That's why my mates dad said it's possible it's the pressure plate wearing in, but to keep an eye on it and if it gets worse to let him know.

Sorry it's kinda hard to explain, and it is only a faint noise.
