Technical Punto won't start after being disconnected from battery.

I had a similar problem last year. We had got a new key made to replace a lost one. Then I did an unrelated job which involved disconnecting the battery. The car needed the code to be entered at every start from there on. When the replacement key had been made it had damaged the immobiliser some how. I ended up buying a used ecu, body ecu and lock set. Hope yours isn't the same.

Dear all, thank you so far!

I talked to the Fiat dealer in town now.
It is the "injection controller" box that is broken.

They said it will cost 1750 EURO!
Bought the car 5 years ago for 2500 Euro.
They haven't specified the costs for the spare part or the job.
But i was thinking that i might be able to find a used one for about 100 Euros.
Is it possible to install pre-owned injection controller and programme it to the car? I talked to 2 other fiat dealers and they weren't sure if its possible or not.

Any experience within this?

I actually called another fiat dealer as well.
He said to me that the injection controller box cost approx 1400 Euro to buy.
That's the reason, and it's not possible to programme a pre-owned one.
Have to buy a brand new :bang:

I've been thinking about that as well.
When i discussed this with my dad, he mentioned that it could happen if you are not careful when reconnecting the battery. Don't know how important it is to start with a certain polarity for example, but he told me it could happen if you don't do it correct.

Hello everybody!

Long time no see. I just wanted to give you an update.
Today (after 9 months) the car finally started.
I was very close to give the car away, since the Fiat dealer wanted me to pay 1850€ for a new fuel injection control unit. And it was impossible to use a pre-owned since they were "locked" and not re-programmable to a new car/keycode.

I found a company that repairs these stuff. But it turned out that mine was impossible to repair, the capacitor has exploded and destroyed the pcb.
But the the magic happened, i googled it and found pre-owned ones on ebay that was flashed. Which means they were all like brand new units, no coded data or anything, just plug and play. Cost was 60€ so i decided to give it a try. Something that the Fiat dealer told me was absolutely impossible.

And today, we tried this "new" unit. And it started.... :worship:
9 months of headache is finally over. It was this control unit all the time. Just wish that the fiat dealer could have noticed that during the first troubleshooting i paid for.

Anyway, thank you everybody for all the advices and support. If you have any problem with fiat electronic, i can warmly recommend amscars2010 on ebay. Thank you, and i wish you all a nice day. Tomorrow i will drive Fiat again to work!
