After a brief hiatus after the death of the rear subframe on my Cing Sporting, and some time with a Daewoo Matiz (economical but handled like a barge) and Ford Ka (handled well, sadly eaten by tin worm). I picked up a 2000 1.2 8v 5 door MK2 with 43k on the clock for €500 (410 sheets of English green and folding).

Managed to get the guy to drop the price by €200 as the power steering light kept coming on, a quick battery swap with the Ka seems to have fixed that

I'm on the look out for a few bits and bobs, sadly everyone over here are asking silly money for parts.

I need the following

Front and rear towing eye covers for plain black plastic 5 door bumpers
1 Towing eye
1 Wheel Brace
1 Jack Handle
1 Little plastic doofah that goes on the the front seat belts to stop the metal bit dropping to the floor.

I've used a LARGE paperclip VERY successfully before on the seatbelt

Pm oldhammer for the other bits.. he may well be able to save you a few£/$/E's

Although out NCT (MOT) is an independent company that seems to be staffed by failed mechanic that are nazis, there's a fella local to me breaking one but he's asking €50 a side for seatbelts
I might see if I can fashion something out of a couple of those plastic trim bungs.

Indeed, the handling is a bit whiffly but I have access to a lathe so can sort out some stiffer bushes, it's eerily quiet though
