Hi all,
Ive had my Punto Mk2b for a few days now and I've put petrol in it twice. Both times I've put the nozzle in and pulled the handle, it clicks as if the petrol tank is full.. I've tried pulling it out a bit and moving it around at several strange angles to get it to fill.. the only way i can get it to not click every 5 seconds is by filling it up super slow by only holding down the handle very slightly.. only problem is that this takes an insane amount of time and I can't imagine how long it'll take when i want to fill it right up to the brim...
Anyone got any tips or help as to why my car is doing this?

Cheers,
Rhys

mine does this on most pumps (although mine is diesel)
its always done it however it could be something as simple as a blocked fuel tank breather pipe.... where's my tool box

It's the Ferrari F1 heritage filler. High flow rates are barred. Finding the right angle helps bit it's down to the fill rate at that pump and the sensitivity of the back pressure sensor or maybe the little green flap is sticky.

Same thing happens to me, it got better over time but It is only at certain petrol stations that it fills to max without clicking

mine does the same,

what ido is pull the pump nozzle out abit and then ican fill tank
with no clicks.

ilearnt how to do this after fueling up at pumps that are pay with card.

the amount of times ive had the pump switch off after getting 77p in is unreal
& pump wont alow the card again.. sale declined. :bang:

then drive to another station to start again.
then go to bank next day to unblock card. :(

in punch and judy mode
thats the way to do it
some puntos are better than others of course but i dont think its a blockage of your tubes

ps dont fill these cars to the brim as they is getting old and not only is it a lot of weight but those tank straps have a propensity to rot
why only this week i had to replace a sender unit and pump because jo had brimmed it and somehow it broked the sender unit, they found out when they ran out of fuel on the motorway

Mine is iffy at some station's.
if iuse Sainsbury's no probs.

ijust keep tank full now.. and just top up when fuel gauge just drops alittle below
full marker. this helps me keep a record of how much fuel its using too..13quid in two weeks.. happy days. :D

iwas shocked at how much fuel these little punto's hold mind.

i had to replace a fuel pump/fuel sender unit last week as customer had filled to the neck this punto
it had actually broken the plastic on the sender
so i suggest a car thats at least 8 years old now and on original petrol support straps (ive had straps break on a transit full of fuel ,not pleasant but thankfully it was diesel) is not brimmed but only a sensible amount added
10 gallons is one heck of a weight for those that cant comprehend it

keep brimming to yuppies in their modern audis(y)

Filled my new Punto up for the fist time last night, wow that took a while! I forgot how awkward they are to fill :( *CLICK**CLICK**CLICK**CLICK**CLICK**CLICK* - that's the first liter (n)

It is a pain, but once you get a decent angle and the right amount of pressure on the handle it's ok... Still painfully slow though :/
