Hi, I have a 05 plate, semi-automatic Fiat Punto.

I keep getting an Orange Triangle with an Exclamation mark inside, and a message on my screen saying, Manual Mode Not Available.
I only have driven the car in automatic mode, so not sure why I keep getting this message, however this isn't the main problem.

Now whilst in Automatic mode my car sometimes wont change gear from drive to Neutral or Reverse. And sometimes it wont change out of reverse into neutral or drive, I have to switch the engine off and on numerous times to get it to work.

I'm a complete noob when it comes to cars, so please bare that in mind when replying >_<

Thanks in advance.

Hi mate and WELCOME TO THE FORUM

As you have an 05 plate, you will have the dualogic box. They can be fairly temperamental at times.

When you attempt to change from neutral to drive or reverse, you you get "gear unavailable" message on the display?

When does the fault occur? is it all the time, or mainly just after start up?

Sometimes these boxes need a bit of "time" to catch up. A tip is to try putting your foot on the brake, holding it there for around 5 seconds and THEN shift into reverse or drive and see if it improves the situation.

Failing that, theres not much a "noob" to cars can do with a dualogic. Even checking the fluid level needs covers removing. So the best bet is go to a garage (or fiat dealer) that understands the dual logic box and has the diagnostic equipment to check it for fault codes (not ALL garages will be able to do this)
