hi pepps
i have a problem with lights on my clocks
red steering wheel /hand brake and heater plugs lights glow faintly all the time you are driving .more noticeable at night at the end of the trip.take key out these 3 lights stay on for about 30 seconds then go out.I know to check steering motor /hand brake switch here's the problem the glow-plug light .My punto is a 1.2 petrol and unless it thinks its a diesel ( which it does sound like sometimes) I have not got any glow plugs so why the light?:confused:
if any body has a clue i would be grateful for any advice

So you've got the orange like coil symbol glowing.... on a petrol
Thats odd....
Now either there is alot of reflection going on in there

or the car isn't properly linked to the dash
Ie it needs a proxy alignment....

Does your clock flash?

right first of all when you say they stay on for about 30 seconds, is this the same as the digital display which stays on when you take key out? ie do they go out at same time as digital display? because it could be light bleed over ( light escaping from another bulb ) due to either incorrectly fitted bulb or clock module has been repaired / tampered with and the lamp shields or back plate has not been fitted correctly ??
 
Hi clocks work fine no flashing the mileage reads fine and the three problem lights go out some times as you change gear. stay of for a a few seconds or they flicker. checked earth cables they are fine still not got a clue

Id suspect its going to be possibly requires proxy alignment
As a manual car there isnt links between manual and dash iirc... so its odd yours does

(three problem lights go out some times as you change gear)

Iwouid be looking into the Reverse'switch & its wiring.

Unplug reverse switch & see if fault goes away,


check operation of reverse lights,get an assitant to flick through the gears with just ignition on and see if reverse lights at rear flicker /come on when they shouidnt be,
 
hi tried handbrake switch/reverse gear switch no joy.they go off when i hit a bump now and the 30 second delay for them to go off after key removed the fuel gage needle drops another millimetre as well
I give up and booked it in for a electrics test
if they find out what it is I will let you all know for future reference

You definitely have a bad earth somewhere regardless of what you say about the earths being good I would suspect the dash loom which it known to have a problem with reverse currents causing earth noise
