Hi,

This is my first post as a new owner of a Punto Mk2b.
The factory installed Blaupunkt had a CD failure so I bought an aftermarket JVC KD-R331 CD Radio.
The wiring loom that came with it only had a standard ISO connector.
I disconnected the negative terminal on the car battery first, removed the old unit and connected the new unit's ISO connector to the car ISO connector, then reconnected the negative battery terminal.
There was no power when I connected it, just a CD eject whirring noise. Alongside the standard ISO are mini 20 pin green, blue and yellow mini blocks, are these the power cables? See the pictures attached.
I guess I need some sort of adapter, don't I?

Please help as my daughter drives the car the most and misses playing CD's.

Dean

some late mk2 and the mk2b are Canbus Stereo's

The car is talking to itself all the time - hence why you have 2 canbus wires on your 16pin iso plug (8 are speakers, 8 are power/signal/coms)

Your car has a CONSTANT feed to the stereo, however its told to turn on by the cars Brains when ignition is on, or when the stereo says to the car, somebody is pushing my buttons

Remove the stereo, and you put a new 1 in
you have the constant feed, hence why you hear CD spur to life, but no wake up call, which is because the punto uses its brain todo so

DO NOT CONNECT THE CANBUS LINES TO THE 12V IGNITION SIGNAL

THE CANBUS IS A 12V DATA LINE - NOT A 12V POWER LINE

You need to run a ignition feed from the cigarette light itself, or a piggyback fuse from the fusebox off the cigarette lights socket (which is easier imo) running it the back of the dash to the stereo

You may find it easier to drop the wire down the back and then to the fuse box - gravity can be your friend

i see i owt todo a guide on this soon.... as i do want my stereo back in as well :(

Thanks Ziggy,

I'll print off your reply and pass it to my auto electrician to complete the job as I have no auto electrics knowledge.

Much appreciated.
