my punto has a very wet floor on the passenger side front& back i checked the heater its ok no leak also checked drainholes under wiper motor there ok any help welcome thanks pat

Hi Pat, welcome to the forum. I would check the doors make sure the drains are clear. Have you a sunroof or has the windscreen been replaced. Pulling up the carpet can sometimes show where it's coming in.

Make sure the plastic sealing membrane is still under the door cards---when someone has the card off for a reason and doesn't refit it, when it rains, the water can run down the door inner and come out the wrong side of door seal---result, wet carpets. That's why the car makers put it there.
Especially if car is parked on a gradient. Park the car the other way :).

found the problem water was coming in one of the small rubber grommets underneat the floor sill ther is about 5 or 6 off these in a line i sealed it with black mastick thanks to all who helped out

do you mean the rubber grommets for where side skirts fasten too,

idont think this will cause the problem, if anything id think this is where the water will be finding its exit,

id get some waxyoyl sprayed in ..punto can rust from inside out,

sorry my fault didnt explain it correctly these are small drain plugs

The little tiny bungs about 1cm max wide?
that are hidden underneath the car
These are fixing for skirts and as the possible only way out for water....

ah you mean in sills
we is talking floorpan here
????????
they are to drain water out of the floor pan
very 19th century
once the factory sealant breaks down here and corrosion begins it needs sorting or you get holes within 6 months, nasty things to weld up too as some are under the box section for front seat supports and some under brake lines

hate welding em

bit surprised the ones in the sill are responsible for the wet carpet.

I would've thought the ones in the pan that s and b is talking about are more likely.

I don't think there's any good reason to keep these bungs, they're just weak points. Fill the holes.
