I have a Punto on an 03 plate Mia.

Was wondering if these are the correct parts for my car, just wanted to check with the pros before I purchase

The first depends on whether or not you have ABS.... I'm also surprised that the bonnet stuff is the same for Mk2 and Mk2b -- seeing as how the fronts are different -- but not my area of expertise.... (Someone wiser will be along shortly....)

I'd be tempted to see what prices you can get from Eurocarcare.net (not Eurocarparts) or Shop4parts -- both who give discounts to (donated) forum members. Big Mick, at Eurocarcare, can be Skyped, phoned, or emailed -- and will get the right parts from your VIN or reg....

never seen an 03 mia
mia never had abs
different cables for mk 2 and mk2 punto
different catch for mk2 and mk2b too
catches rarely fail they just usually need cleaning and oiling

re bonnet catch.Seller will be using one pic to ilustrate both models, mk2a/b

what you see in pic you might not get,

dont they look good painted up ,. pop in a scrapyard and buy one you will more than likely get the cable for free, sometimes people scrap em with parts that are a few week old fitted,

as with the chap with brake shoes and drums in the link,

might be best to ring and give them your reg number, less messing that way,

are you sure?


cheaper yes agreed but, punto mk2a/b has 3 differnt size drum/shoe setups,

vin or reg number needed by supplier to confirm,

or it couid be alot of work for nowt,

as seen on those ebay links both non abs drums have 180mm diameter so should be same, but yea who knows which car he has

i took the drums off another mk2 punto and put them on my mk1, it fits

Make sure you get Non abs if you have Non abs

The bonnet catchs respond well to a good degrease
i took mine out - stuck it in kettle hot water with a dishwasher tablet

Scrub - rinse and lube it'll be good for donkeys

However - use a decent grease, one that dries out - will be back stiff and stick
