Hi daughters 2004 1.3 16V with A/C - heater fan started playing up at Xmas time was short so a swift thump with palm of hand sorted now not working at all thought motor but direct feeding 12v to it shows it works. there is 11.61 volts at the power plug engine off so less than battery which is 12.82 - engine running its a healthy 13.8v at the power plug unplugged the various connectors - a/c compressor kicks in but no cabin fan.... take off the main power plug and the a/c light in the centre of the switch comes on plug it back in and it goes off read another post re resistor... would this cause the a/c light to come on/off no idea unless there is resistance from the burnt out speed resistor? given the less than batt voltage at the power plug, no evidence of any other elec fault THANKS

i find your post confusing
look for burnt wires by fan motor
i guess these have a more complicated rheostat over a standard non aircon model where usually aircon cars use a ic board
not sure but look by fan first
the switch is basically a standard punto switch but with the ability of the light plus to turn on the aircon so i would possibly rule this out as the issue here

never had problems here so im shooting in the dark really

thanks - replaced resistor pack = the existing one is very rusty but no joy still no working fan thinking the switch may be u/s thumped the switch with the flat of my hand and the sidelights come on together with the dash lamp failure bulb :bang: have had the fan out and it works with a direct 12v supply so back to the wiring diagram

SORTED! read another thread from 2007 about the negative feed to the motor via the multiway plug in the passenger footwell and sure enough bridging the black wire either side resolved - keen to see exactly why this was faulty I managed to unclip the black connector to discover the female part of the plug on the black wire was burnt giving intermittent connection - cut the black wires off the multiway as close to the connector as possible solder the now free ends together and used shrink wrap to seal the joint = 30 mins!
