rear discs, bigger battery and tray and its already a 1.8 so no need to tell dvla its got a bigger engine as its the same size

deads hgt's normally sell cheaper than dead 1.2's

Nothing with 75 miles of me Dave, i have listened and looked (y)

you should do it for your self not to interest others

Though i agree Dave i have many cars and this wouldnt be a long term car, as mad as it sounds as you will know from the 5 or so Cinqs and Seis i have owned, i enjoy more the building/putting them back on the road than long term owning them :eek:

A 'radically altered vehicle' does NOT need IVA if enough of the original vehicle remains and the chassis/monocoque is unmodified. The DVLA will want proof of engine capacity, there's a few types they'll accept. One being a letter from the engine manufacturer (it's a popular way of proving engine age in kit cars at IVA if you have a non-Ford engine). That reminds me, I must remember to write to Mazda to get a letter for my kit car's engine (I need it for my IVA).

A friend who declared his Nova engine conversion couple of years back simply submitted the following
Reg and Engine number of the donor vehicle
New CC

and it apparently worked? indeed ive seen his v5 saying 1998cc

This is something i have been thinking about too for many years.

The 1.8 engine in the fiat is the same as the tspark but with a different head. The both use the same variator and i think the use the same timing belt too so I doubt there would be dramatic differences.

Method 2 - 2.0tspark complete engine complete with ECU and loom. The later 156 and all 147's use CANBUS so it should be adaptable. You could also use the code box from the alfa as they use the same immobilisor system and it would be pre-coded to the ECU (you would have to swap key barrels over from the alfa as well.

Thankyou for your thoughtout reply and so glad to here im not the only one that thinks this is doable (y)

It would be method 2, if theres one thing i have learnt in recent years, complete units work best as transplants rather than seperate parts off them, i have the new flip key, 5 matching locks and barell and it all works.

I would expect the HGT gearbox to fit as the bottom end is the same. Not sure about the tspark box as it may use different driveshafts or have a different bellhousing.

This is my main stumbliing block, a set of mounts is £80 but if box is different its likely they wont fit and if custom shafts are needed its not worth doing, at same time an unknown brought box can majorly delay a conversion, the thought of all this conversion is as above the fact i have a decent engine and box at my disposal

One thing though, i would never use a 1.2 8v as the base vehicle. you would have to upgrade everything and then you would be stuck with a (comparitivly) dreary base model interior and bodykit. I would use a 1.8 hgt with timing belt failure as a base car.

I went to lok at the base car and it wasnt as expected, i assumed it to be the same as the 'mia' i had last year which had full elctrics and locking and just base bumpers but no this had wind up windows etc which agreed, i wouldnt use, bumpers etc dont concern me as its costs me relatively nothing to paint up, indeed i wouldnt do a full conversion and then leave the body at all tatty.
