Noticed a small oil leak the other day and found my sump is quite badly rusted. I live in hull and its a 2004 1.2 8v, just wondering how much id be looking at to have it replaced??

best get a few quotes but if you can get your own sump off the internet ,on your year it should be small bolt one so cheaper:)
(these are cheaper delivered than all my factors can supply and the quality is very good)

I second s and b. Double-check my product number, but according to ePER, you need part 46515152. Pop that number into a generic online auction service and you should see options available around the £30 mark delivered.

Cheers,

Mick

And I third it. Last time I asked the Fiat part was €290. I replaced ours for £35 plus postage. You will need special sealer £5 as well. It is a pig of a job to remove as you need to drop the exhaust manifold and the sticky stuff holding the sump will need a hammer and chisel. Many first timers get the seal wrong going back and have to do it again. Garages would probably quote £150 minimum including an oil and filter change.

becoz you have paid for fitting of sump and not a service :D

did you expect them to polish it and hoover it out n all :ROFLMAO:

Even though I supplied them with fresh oil and a new filter for when they change the oil, changed the oil but ignored the filter.
Seems a pretty obvious thing to fit a new filter when replacing oil, even discussed it with them beforehand.

Funnily enough, they did actually hoover and polish my car, impressive

Worth checking that the oil leak is a result of the rust. It's not uncommon for any oil leak above the sump to drip down, in which case, sort that, scrape off and treat the rust, paint.

It's always surprised me that rusted through Punto sumps are common, rusted through Cento sumps are rare. The moral might be "if buying an Italian car, get one that's built in Poland".
